I was informed by Monica Miller that Shelley Waddington, Artisan Perfumer of EnVoyage Perfumes, would be giving away a 0.25 oz. bottle of her Summer of Love Patchouli eau de parfum named “Go Ask Alice” to readers of Scentual Soundtracks.  How generous!   Here is how Shelley describes Go Ask Alice:

Masculine/Feminine Oriental-Woody Gourmand

Mood:  Edgy, Mysterious, Adventurous

Top Notes:  California Orange Peel, Bitter Orange Caribe, Bergamot from Calabria, Sri Lankan Black Pepper, Orange Flower Enfleurage Laced With Fresh Raspberry and Strawberry

Heart Notes:   Tinctured Patchouli Leaves,  Mimosa Blossoms, Rose Absolue

Base Notes:  Vintage Patchouli Sumatra, Sandalwood deux, Cocoa, Vanille, Tonka Beans, Labdanum Spain, Balsam Peru France, Beach Washed Ambergris

Additional Fragrance Materials:  Natural Isolates.  Enfleurage & tinctures by EnVoyage Perfumes.

Shelley’s Diary:

My goal was to compose a perfume that would define the 1967 “Summer Of Love”, the time when young Americans protested the Vietnam war and took a lot of drugs, and the smell of patchouli was always in the air.

My biggest challenges were in retaining the authenticity and the surrealistic quality of this iconic theme while achieving my goal to contemporize and raise it to the level of fine perfume.
